The Supreme Court Division 3 (Chief Justice Roh Jung-hee) on the 27th confirmed that the original trial, which ruled in favor of the plaintiff in a civil lawsuit filed by Chu against Blockberry Creative, was dismissed.
Chew filed a lawsuit against Blockberry Creative in December 2021 to invalidate its exclusive contract. Blockberry Creative claimed to have kicked Chew out of the team in November 2022 for abuse of power and other reasons, but Chew has never done anything shameful" countered. Since then, staff members who worked with Chu have also left messages supporting Chu on social media.
Following the first trial, the court ruled in favor of Chu in the second trial. The first trial court explained that "Chu's exclusive contract has a fixed period of time, so changing the agency does not naturally lose its effectiveness.'"The Plaintiff's entertainment activities generated a net profit of about 860 million won from 2016 to September 2021, but the Plaintiff cannot receive any settlement payments if it follows Blockberry Creative's profit distribution clause."
Meanwhile, Chu signed an exclusive contract with ATRP in April last year and continues to work as a solo artist. Except for Chew, the members of LOONA also moved to other agencies after winning an exclusive contract dispute with Blockberry Creative and are working as groups such as Artemis and Rusesembl.
