Starship Apologizes for CRAVITY Airport Security Incident

On July 22, Starship Entertainment, the agency representing the group CRAVITY, issued an apology regarding the recent controversy over excessive security measures at the airport.

The agency acknowledged the issue in a statement on their fan cafe: “We deeply apologize to those affected and to our fans for the inappropriate behavior of the bodyguards who were responsible for artist security at the airport following CRAVITY’s performance and promotion in Japan on June 23.”

Starship Entertainment added, “Upon learning of the incident, we immediately terminated our relationship with the security company that provided on-site security for CRAVITY.” They further stated, “To prevent similar incidents in the future, we will implement new security protocols and training procedures to ensure the safety of both our fans and artists.”

Earlier in the day, JTBC reported that a teenage fan of CRAVITY had filed a police report alleging that a private bodyguard assaulted her at the airport, resulting in a concussion. The bodyguard in question has stated that he raised his hand but did not intend to strike the fan.

The following is the statement from Starship Entertainment:

Hello, it's Starship Entertainment.

We sincerely apologize to those affected and to our fans for the inappropriate behavior of the bodyguards responsible for artist security at the airport following CRAVITY’s performance and promotion in Japan on June 23.

Upon learning of the issue, we promptly ended our partnership with the security company involved. Moving forward, we will establish new security protocols and training procedures to prevent similar incidents and to ensure the safety of both our fans and artists.

We deeply regret the incident and appreciate your understanding and continued support. Thank you.
