(G)I-DLE Apologizes for Unauthorized Use of Red Cross Symbol

(G)I-DLE apologized for the unauthorized use of the Korean Red Cross mark.

On the 22nd, Cube Entertainment acknowledged the issue with the stage costumes and stated they are in contact with the Korean Red Cross to actively discuss measures to prevent recurrence and to follow up after the apology. "We would like to apologize once again to those who experienced inconvenience in relation to this matter," they added.

Earlier, (G)I-DLE appeared on KBS2's 'Music Bank', which aired on the 19th, and performed their new song 'Klaxon'. On that day, (G)I-DLE wore cropped T-shirts and short pants emblazoned with the Red Cross mark and the word 'LIFEGUARD' as their stage costumes.

However, shortly after the broadcast, it became controversial as it was pointed out that (G)I-DLE used the Red Cross mark without permission. According to Article 25 of the Korean Red Cross Organization Act, "Any person who is not authorized by the Red Cross, a military medical institution, or the Red Cross shall not use a Red Cross mark or similar mark marked with a red Greek cross on a white background for business or propaganda purposes." Violation of this may result in a fine of up to 10 million won.

Regarding this, the Korean Red Cross stated that there was no request for prior approval from (G)I-DLE for the use of the Red Cross mark. However, they added, "We will notify the agency of the relevant laws and regulations and request a plan to prevent recurrence because we believe there was no intentional misconduct."

The following is the official statement from Cube Entertainment:
