'BLACKPINK, K-pop halo', Lisa is not easy to ignore the suspicion of plagiarism

Lisa's solo career, taking off Blackpink and K-pop, hit a snag.

Lisa released her new single 'Rockstar' on June 28.

'Rockstar' drew a lot of attention in that it was the first solo album in three years since the 2021 release of 'LALISA' and Lisa's first release after leaving YG Entertainment (hereinafter referred to as YG) and establishing a private label, Loud Company. Lisa also joined hands with popular American bands Wall Republic Ryan Tether and Sam Homai, and Jasi himself participated in writing and composing.

However, the likes and dislikes of the veil-off 'Rockstar' were sharply divided. Because only Lisa, a Thai, was included in 'Rockstar', not Lisa, a member of K-pop star BLACKPINK.

Lisa shot a music video for 'Rockstar' in Bangkok, Thailand, and hired a Thai dancer and art director. Naturally, songs, performance styles, and fashion were all different from those of BLACKPINK. There were also complaints that it was "awkward" while completely excluding K-pop and Blackpink styles, which trained Lisa and raised her as a global star. There was an opinion that the fans loved Lisa, not Lisa, who was Thai, but Lisa, who was Blackpink.

Meanwhile, suspicion of plagiarism emerged.

According to Hong Kong's South China Morning Post on June 29, Chinese fashion designer Yang You-e, who works in London, England, raised suspicions of plagiarism for Lisa's outfit in the music video of 'Rockstar'.

Yang Yu-e accused Lisa of copying her unique design with a leather star-shaped top. The design was completed by Jisan when he was attending a master's program at the London School of the Arts in 2020, and the spirit of Beijing and Rock in China was captured in a star-shaped design. He posted a screenshot of the scene and a photo of the design process on his personal account, saying it was a terrible cut. Don't shame yourself," the stylist accused. He also claimed that he received an answer from Lisa's agency that `Lisa liked the shape of the star and wore it.'

Lisa has signed a partnership with RCA Records, a subsidiary of Sony Music in the United States, and has declared full-fledged global activities, including the appearance of the original HBO series 'The White Lotus'Season 3'.
