According to Hyun-chul's wife, Song Ae-kyung, the deceased said that he was happy to be a singer even during his battle with the disease, and he missed the stage very much. And he closed his eyes comfortably after seeing all his cherished grandchildren while listening to his favorite song, 'Like My Heart Stars'.

The mortuary of the deceased was set up in Room 1 of the funeral hall of Asan Medical Center in Seoul. Hyun-chul, who was born in 1942, debuted in 1969 with `My Heartless Love.'
