This is the present day of New Jeans (Minji, Hani, Daniel, Haerin, and Hyein), who celebrated their second anniversary on July 22. This is also why we are curious about the greater possibilities and future of those who were evaluated as having changed the paradigm of K-pop at this time last year.
As soon as Newzins debuted, it became a syndrome-class popularity and broke several first, shortest, and best modifiers on various major domestic and foreign charts. It hit Spotify's global charts, including the U.S. Billboard 'Hot100' and 'Billboards 200'. 'The whole world created a phenomenon that was not awkward at all. Whenever a new song is released, the music genre presented by the five members has become a trend, and fashion concepts and performances suitable for it have become a part of popular culture (meme).
Newzins is writing K-pop history with its unrivaled aesthetic and overwhelming performance. They were not in a hurry to do so. They are taking steps step by step, keeping their own clear identity. The Tokyo Dome fan meeting held on June 26-27 in Japan shows the popularity and status of New Jeans. Newzins entered the Tokyo Dome within the shortest period (1 year and 11 months) since her debut as an overseas artist. Even though the fan meeting was a weekday event, tickets were sold out early, and the limited viewing seats were opened, and 91,200 spectators gathered for two days.
This led to the response of Newzins' Japanese debut single 'Supernatural'. The album, which topped Japan's Oricon chart on the day of its release, was recently certified as a gold disc 'Gold (accumulated album shipment of more than 100,000 copies)' by the Japan Records Association. As it has increased accessibility through global distribution, it has surpassed 1 million cumulative sales (as of June in the circle chart). With this, Newzins has placed all five albums released so far on the million seller list.
There was a craze for newzins beyond objective indicators. Despite being a Japanese single, 'Supernatural' ranked high regardless of domestic and international music charts. It's rare. Especially in Japan, the performance of Hani's 'Blue Sanhocho' and Hyein's 'Plastic Love' is still being talked about. It resonated by capturing the hearts of local middle-aged people as well as fans familiar with K-pop.
According to ADOR, Japanese terrestrial broadcasters are constantly calling for Newzins. Requests for additional performances outside of Tokyo are also inundated. The same goes for the advertising industry. Proposals are pouring in that they want to collaborate in a new form. Despite the end of Japanese activities, domestic and foreign media have no choice but to set up antennas closely in the trend of the times. Some even say that New Jeans played a role as a cultural bridge between Korea and Japan. Based on 'Popular Pick', it is expected that Newzins' unique popularity pattern, which has steadily increased music and album sales over time, is expected.
Newzins, who has set countless records that are not easy to break, continues to grow without borders. We listened to the 2nd anniversary of Newzins' debut, which is expanding its influence to a larger world stage beyond the boundaries of K-pop.

Q. It's been two years since our debut. You've successfully finished your activities in Japan. How do you feel?
(Minji) I think it's been two years in a really short time. If you think you're used to the stage, there's always a new stage waiting. The challenges will continue in the future, but I believe I can do it if I work with the members.
(Hani) I've been doing a lot over the past two years, and I feel like I've become deeper into what I'm doing now, and I've come to love and enjoy it. I had a lot of fun while preparing for my recent Japanese debut. It was an opportunity to debut in another country and I was so happy to show you new performances.
(Daniel) It's been a dreamy two years. Thank you so much for making these precious memories. There have been difficult and difficult moments, but thanks to Burns, we were able to grow and learn more by giving and receiving a lot of love and energy. I think every day goes by fast these days. I will try to spend every moment more precious.
(Haerin) A lot of memories from the past two years pass by. I'm grateful to be with my precious people, and I'm happy to have my precious Bunnies by my side.
I thought, "It hasn't been long since we debuted yet." I think it's a time when I still want to try and there are many things I can do. We want to continue to show our various sides to those who love and care about us.
Q. What has changed the most compared to the beginning of your debut?
(Minji) I think I can think more maturely. It's still not enough, but I decided to focus on growing up with ease.
(Hani) I think my various experiences have given me an understanding of how I can do better. We spent a lot of time with the members, so we have a deeper understanding of each other. We were close originally, but we got closer, and I think we got to work happily.
I don't think there's much difference inside (Daniel). Of course, it is growing in many ways with experience and practice. I think we've grown to understand each other. And I got closer to Bunnies and grew more love. Now, I think we can connect just by looking at Bunnies.
(Harin) The new accommodation. I'm so grateful to be able to stay in a warm and comfortable space. Other than the change in the residential space, I don't feel much different. As I always do, I think I'm doing well with the members.
(Hye-in) There are many still unrealistic moments, but I think I find various aspects of myself as I adapt to all environments and get closer to and get closer to the people around me.
Q. What's the most memorable moment from Newzins' activities over the past two years?
(Minji) There are many moments, but now the Tokyo Dome fan meeting is the most memorable. It was a dream-like moment to spend time with music-loving Bunnies.
There are so many, but I remember the recent Tokyo Dome fan meeting. I have a lot of memories on stage, but I think the process of practicing and preparing is more memorable.
It's hard to choose because there are so many. Among them, the first thing that comes to mind is the recent Tokyo Dome fan meeting. It was such a happy dream time. I was very nervous because it was my first overseas fan meeting, but the moment I saw Bunnies on stage, all my fears disappeared and I felt like I was becoming one with Bunnies. I think the colored binky sticks, Bunnies' cheering sound, and Bunnies' love came in like waves, so all the tension disappeared and I really enjoyed it. Burns, thank you.
(Harin) There are so many memorable moments, but I should choose a Tokyo Dome stage recently. It was impressive to see so many binky sticks and sparkling eyes.
I can never forget the debut performance of NU'EST GINS. And the recent Tokyo Dome performance was very memorable.
Q. What do you think is unique about Newzins?
(Minji) I think Newzins are special because they are Newzins. I have a lot of challenges, but I think I have a big mindset to enjoy the moment.
(Hani) I want to play good songs for you and I want to show you good performances and contents. I think people who like our music will find us.
(Daniel) Rather than being special or different, we really love music and we want to share that love with Bunnies.
(Haerin) I think it's our heart to focus on our work and do our best. I think our feelings of enjoying the stage were conveyed well.
Rather than being stuck in one concept and style (Hye-in), I always try new things in various ways.
Q. Looking back at the first half of this year, what would you like to say to the members and Bunnies?
(Minji) I am proud and proud of the members who worked well on their busy schedules. There will be a lot of performances and things waiting for you in the second half of the year, but I hope you can enjoy it and do it. I love you! Let's stay healthy!
