In the Netflix series 'Super Rich Stranger', 'Kimchi' is marked as 'La Baichai' (辣 菜), which means pickled Chinese spicy vegetables.

In episode 6 of "Super Rich Stranger", the cast members talked about kimchi and misinterpreted many Chinese subtitles with "La Baichai".

In response, Sungshin Women's University Professor Seo Kyung-duk said, `I found out because many Internet users reported it, and immediately sent an e-mail to protest because it is a Netflix that has global influence" he said.

In addition, he stressed that "(China's 'Kimchi Process' continues continuously, so this situation can provide an excuse for China, so we must correct it as soon as possible."

In 2021, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism partially revised the guidelines for translating and writing foreign languages in public terms, specifying that kimchi's correct Chinese notation is 'Cinch' (辛奇).

Professor Seo pointed out, "Last year, Netflix caused a lot of controversy by marking 'Kimchi' as 'Pao Chai' (泡菜) on a number of Chinese subtitle services."

In addition, he added "A true global company should pay more attention to a country's sensitive issues.'
