Star News reported on the 2nd that Kim Ho-joong appointed a total of six lawyers, including lawyer Cho Nam-gwan, who served as acting prosecutor general, Choo Hyung-woon, a former prosecutor, Jeon Sang-gwi, a lawyer currently affiliated with the law firm, and Cho Wan-woo.
Kim Ho-joong is accused of leaving the scene without any action after colliding with an oncoming taxi on a road in Apgujeong-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, at around 11:40 p.m. on May 9. Later, it was revealed that he tried to cover up the drunk driving by changing the driver and damaging the vehicle's black box memory card, and Kim Ho-joong was arrested along with the head of the agency and the head of the division.
However, Kim Ho-joong's charge of drunk driving was ruled out at the prosecution stage. In response, a prosecution official said "As Kim Ho-joong drank several times at a time interval, the police could not confirm the drinking level only by the way they calculated reversely."," he was quoted as saying.
Meanwhile, the Seoul Central District Court's Criminal Chamber 26 (Judge Choi Min-hye) designated the first trial date of Kim Ho-joong, who was arrested and charged with violating the law on the aggravated punishment of certain crimes (hazardous driving injuries), as 2:30 p.m. on the 10th.
