On the afternoon of the 10th, the Seoul High Court's Criminal Department 7 (Chief Judge Lee Jae-kwon, Song Mi-kyung, and Kim Seul-ki) held the second trial of the appellate court on charges of violating the law on the aggravated punishment of certain economic crimes against Park Soo-hong's brother, Park, and his brother-in-law, Lee. Park Soo-hong appeared as a witness at the hearing.
Park Soo-hong's brother and his wife are accused of embezzling company money and Park Soo-hong's personal funds worth billions of won while in charge of Park's management for 10 years from 2011 to 2021. In the first trial, only about 2 billion won in total was found guilty of embezzlement charges, including about 700 million won for Lael Co., Ltd. and 1.3 billion won for Media Boom Co., Ltd. Park Soo-hong's four personal accounts were managed, and he was found not guilty of privately misappropriating 1.6 billion won on about 320 occasions.
In response, Park Soo-hong responded "I felt that it was too unfair for the part where innocence came out. So I told him that I really wanted to be a witness. I wanted to testify after seeing that I was almost the first to testify and the defendants testified later, but the facts were distorted and even the verdict came out"I've generated all the sales for 30 years. When asked if he hopes to punish the defendants, Park Soo-hong replied, "This should not be repeated. If you make a rumor, it will come out almost a few years later. I came all the way here because I didn't want to do it. Until the end, blood and blood also conducted a witch hunt to protect the money acquired through illegal embezzlement. It is my purpose to want severe punishment from the defendants. Even at this moment, it is very painful to be with them. I don't think it is necessary to set a precedent where those who wear family masks and take only their own interests are mass-produced."
He also said of his parents "Please stop asking me about my father and mother. I don't intend to present myself as a witness and make the whole nation condemn it like anyone else. I won't answer. I don't want to insult my parents."
Finally, he said "I wanted to do a one-man protest while watching the first trial ruling"There are many people who are in the same situation as me, but the world must change."
The next hearing will be held at 4 p.m. on September 25.
