A broadcast writer who was put on trial for approaching the group Shinhwa Lee Min-woo and stealing 2.6 billion won was also sentenced to heavy punishment in the appeal trial.

On the 9th, the Seoul High Court's Criminal Department 3 (Chief Judge Lee Chang-hyung) sentenced a broadcaster A to nine years in prison, as in the first trial, on charges of violating (fraud) the law on aggravated punishment of certain economic crimes. He also maintained the first trial's order to return 2.6 billion won.

The court admitted all charges of A approaching Lee Min-woo, gaslighting (psychological domination) and ripping money.

The court said "It is recognized that the defendant controlled the victim psychologically and the victim was atrophied. The victim stated that the defendant was the only one to help him at the time, so it appears that he was emotionally dependent on the defendant.

As a result, the victim said that when he was alone, the defendant's remarks were heard deafening and he knelt down to answer the phone. "The defendant's crime is not very good, and he makes an unconvincing excuse and does not show any remorse at all. The victim lost his life's wealth and is demanding severe punishment", he explained the reason for the sentencing.

Earlier in February 2019, Lee Min-woo was booked on charges of sexually harassing two women. At the time, when the relevant report came out, Mr. A said, "I will let you be cleared of any charges because I have connections within the prosecution."I approached Lee Min-woo. Since then, Lee Min-woo has reportedly handed over 218 luxury items along with about 2.6 billion won to A. However, regardless of A's intervention, Lee Min-woo was cleared of charges due to insufficient evidence by the prosecution.
