The Seoul Drama Awards 2024, a drama festival that the world is paying attention to, has unveiled its candidate works for international competition. This year, 346 dramas from 48 countries, the largest ever, competed, with 28 dramas in the one-act drama, mini-series and feature categories being nominated for the award. In addition, 24 world-renowned directors, writers, and actors compete for the throne with just four seats.

The international competition Dangeuk section is characterized by the inclusion of a number of female-centered narratives. △"The Divine Madness of Alda Merini" (RAI Radio Television Italy) △"The Marlow Mulder Club" (ITV Studio), which tells the story of three women solving a murder in a neighborhood, △"CJ ENM O"PEN", a masterpiece that depicts the clear mind of children living while nursing their parents' wounds, was nominated for a total of nine films, including '2:15'PEN.

A total of eight feature films were selected, including △'Hwanggawi's first drama in the International Competition's Best Picture category, which drew keen attention from director Wang Gawi '(Tencent) △ South Africa's growth drama 'Wifi(Homebrew Films) △'Justice: Miss Conduct'(Globo) △Türkiye's romance thriller 'Another Love(Global Agency). In particular, with the nomination of the `KBS' (Koryeo-Koran War'), a Korean work has been nominated for an award in the feature category for the first time in three years.

The miniseries category of the International Competition Prize is △ K-heroic drama 'Moving'(Disney Plus) △'Gag Concert' and 'Comedy Big League' written by Lee Nam-kyu, the writer of the Korean drama series, which won the biggest production cost of any Korean drama ever and the most popular OTT drama in history'Morning is also coming to the psychiatric ward'(Netflix) △The original novel of the same name, which won the Hugo Award for the first time in Asia, A total of 11 films were nominated, including 『Game of Thrones" (Netflix)』 △ Trent Dalton's best-selling novel of the same name"The Boy Who engulfed the universe" (Netflix) △"Sigarlet Girl" (Netflix) △"The Worst Evil" (Disney Plus), which topped the list of Disney's original Korean dramas within two weeks of its release. A total of three Korean works and a large number of OTT topical works produced with solid capital power have been selected, which is expected to lead to fierce competition that cannot be seen an inch ahead.

Nominees for Best Director and Writer in Individual Awards included director Erie Strach and writer Marek Epstein of 'The Saint', director Park In-je of 'Moving', writer Kang Pul, director Han Dong-wook of 'Worst Evil', director Mikhail Charalampidis of 'Soul Dots', writer Penny Pylaktaki, writer David Benioff of 'Samche', and writer Wen Scene of 'Bust'.

The actors' individual categories will include six actors representing Korea and China, from Song Kang-ho, Uncle Sam-sik, to Hooger, Felix Cameron, from `The Boy Who engulfed the Universe', Mattei Hardek, from 'Into the Darkness', Alexis Arroyo, from 'Nothing To Sea Heal', and Tomer Sisley, from 'On the Run'. The Best Female Actor category includes Izzina Bochdalova of 'The St." who also won the Czech Achievement Award for her literary contributions, Robin Malcolm of"After the Party" who was awarded the Order of New Zealand, Park So-yi of"2:15", Dianne Sastrowar of"Sigaret Girl" as well as" Mairi of"Vampire Diaries" who are well-known in Korea for their appearances. In particular, actors of various ages, from Park So-yi in her teens to Bochdalova in her 90s, have been selected, drawing keen attention.

The final winners will be announced in September along with those in the K-drama and international invitation categories.

The Seoul Drama Awards will be held from September 25th (Wednesday) to 27th (Friday) under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Seoul Metropolitan Government, KBS, MBC, SBS, EBS, and CBS. On September 25 (Wednesday), various side events will be held at KBS Hall, including an award ceremony (SBS TV and YouTube live broadcast), a drama talk concert involving directors and actors of topical works at Banpo Hangang Park in Seoul from September 26 (Thursday) to 27 (Friday), and a K-drama experience.
