South Korean men's fencing star Oh Sang-wook gave South Korea its first gold medal at the '2024 Paris Olympics', and stars also celebrated.

Oh Sang-wook won the gold medal in the men's sabre individual final at the '2024 Paris Olympics' held at Grand Palais in Paris, France, early on the 28th (Korean time).

It was the first Olympic gold medal for the Korean men's sabre player and the first gold medal for the Korean team at the '2024 Paris Olympics'.



Oh Sang-wook, who played an overwhelming match against his opponent from the round of 32, easily defeated Tunisia's Fares Perjani 15-11 in the final and proudly won the gold medal. With this, Oh Sang-wook won the men's sabre individual gold medal and won the World Championship, the Asian Games, and the Olympics to achieve the Grand Slam.

Many stars were also happy with this, leaving a congratulatory message.

Kim Joon-ho, a former fencing team member who turned from the original 'Appeals' member to a commentator and explained Oh Sang-wook's game, said "This scene is so amazing right now. It marked a milestone in the history of the Korean fencing sabre. I predicted it, but when I actually saw it in front of my eyes, I was so proud of Sang-wook and my heart was moved."
