2NE1's CL made a surprise appearance at the concert of her YG FAMILY juniors, TREASURE, amplifying anticipation for a full 2NE1 concert with her 'queen bee'-like charisma.
The term 'queen bee' is part of the lyrics from CL's solo song "The Baddest Female," where she sings, "I'm the queen bee, I'm the main character."
On the 17th, YG Entertainment uploaded a video titled '[On-Site Cam] CL - 'The Baddest Female' + 'MTBD' in TREASURE RELAY TOUR [REBOOT] FINAL IN SEOUL' on their official blog and 2NE1's YouTube channel. The video captures CL's performance as a surprise guest at TREASURE's concert on the 15th, marking the first video upload on 2NE1's YouTube channel in about seven years.
CL impressed with her solo performances of "The Baddest Female" and "MTBD," reaffirming her status as a legendary artist. Her powerful rapping and intense performance created an immersive experience that kept the audience captivated. The crowd responded with thunderous cheers and explosive standing ovations.
Towards the end of the video, YG's chief producer Yang Hyun-suk was seen applauding for the longest time, highlighting the synergy between two key figures who wrote the first chapter of YG's girl group legacy. CL’s appearance as a guest at TREASURE’s first concert after four years of their debut also showcased the strong bond between YG FAMILY’s seniors and juniors.
With CL’s recent performance creating a buzz, fans' expectations for 2NE1’s 15th-anniversary concert are soaring. Previously, YG had added an extra concert date after the initial two shows sold out at lightning speed, attracting over 400,000 concurrent users during the ticketing process. This additional show is expected to witness intense competition for tickets, as it may be the last chance for fans to see the 'legendary girl group' live.
YG Entertainment stated, "We decided to release this fan-cam video, unusually filmed by a staff member's mobile phone, to ease the disappointment of global fans who couldn't be there for CL's performance. Both 2NE1 and YG staff are preparing the best stage, so please look forward to it."
Meanwhile, 2NE1 will hold their '2024 2NE1 CONCERT [WELCOME BACK] IN SEOUL' on October 4th, 5th, and 6th at the Olympic Hall in Seoul's Olympic Park. They will then head to Kobe World Hall in Japan at the end of November and Tokyo’s Ariake Arena in early December. Their global tour will continue to expand, allowing them to connect with audiences around the world through next year.
