No Set Date for BTS' Suga's Police Questioning Amid Drunk Driving Case

On August 22, both HYBE, Suga's agency, and the police confirmed that Suga will not be summoned for questioning at this time. The two parties are still coordinating their schedules for a potential meeting.

Suga, a member of BTS, was involved in an incident on August 6, where he was caught driving an electric scooter while intoxicated near his home in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul. At the time, his blood alcohol concentration was 0.227%, significantly above the legal limit for license revocation (0.08%). Blood alcohol concentrations exceeding 0.2% are subject to aggravated penalties.

Following the incident, Suga and his agency issued an apology. However, controversy arose when it was revealed that Suga had initially misstated the nature of the vehicle involved, referring to it as an electric kickboard rather than an electric scooter, and provided incorrect information about having his license revoked and fined. Suga later issued a further apology to address these issues.

The police have indicated that they plan to investigate the specifics of the incident and whether there was any attempt to downplay the severity of the situation. A representative from the National Police Agency mentioned that Suga would not be subject to any special treatment, and the investigation will follow the same standards as with other suspects.

Despite the investigation, Suga's schedule for questioning remains unconfirmed, leading to ongoing uncertainty.

Since September of the previous year, Suga has been fulfilling his military duties as an alternative social service worker.
