According to the Guardian, a British daily newspaper, Alain Delon, who died on the 18th at a private property in Dush, central France, expressed his wish to euthanize his dog 'Rubo' and bury him with him. Lubo, a Belgian Malino species, was adopted by Alain Delon from the shelter in 2014.
Alain Delon said of Lubo in an interview with a local French magazine in 2018 "He is the last dog of my life. I love him like a child.'
"If I die first, I will ask the veterinarian to take us with me, and I will be euthanized in my arms," he said, "'that is better than knowing that he will suffer greatly upon my grave and choose to die.'"
When the news of Alain Delon's death broke on the 18th, there were voices worrying about Lubo's fate.
The Bridget Bardot Foundation, an animal rights group, said Alain Delon's daughter, Anuschka, confirmed that she would not euthanize Lubo.
A Foundation spokesperson "Just spoke to Anuschka Delon and he said Lubo is part of the family and will continue to raise her. The dog will not be euthanized" he said.
Alain Delon, who settled in Duce, France in 1971, has built a cemetery on his private property and laid the remains of at least 35 dogs. 'I want to sleep with my dogs who left firstHe is expected to die next to the graves of his dogs who passed away first.
Delong, who made her film debut in 1958 with the film 'When the Woman Arrives', rose to the top star ranks after playing the role of Ripley in the global hit 'The Sun Is Full'. In the film, he was described as the 'most handsome man in the world' for his good looks. Later, he led the heyday of French cinema in the 1960s with Kathryn Deneuve and Jean-Paul Belmondo. He received the Legion d'Honneur, the highest order awarded by the French government in 1991, the honorary Golden Bear Award at the Berlin International Film Festival in 1995, and the honorary Palme d'Or at the Cannes International Film Festival in 2019.
Alain Delong drew attention when it was revealed that he decided to euthanize in March 2022.
Alain Delon, who suffered a stroke and underwent surgery in 2019, reportedly stayed in Switzerland, where all his assets were cleared and euthanized. At the time, he said in a French TV 5-Monde interview that `I live in Switzerland, not France, where euthanasia is illegal. If there is a situation to do so, I will not hesitate to choose euthanasia.'
