A doctor who failed to keep medical records after administering high doses of propofol to actor Yoo Ah-in has been fined in a first trial.

On August 22, the Seoul Central District Court fined Dr. A 40 million won for violating the Narcotics Control Act. Dr. A was found guilty of neglecting to document the administration of psychotropic drugs, including high-dose propofol, which was administered to Yoo Ah-in.

The court noted that although Dr. A's actions were serious, a prison sentence was deemed too severe due to his sincere remorse and petitions for leniency from his acquaintances.

Previously, six doctors were indicted for overprescribing psychotropic drugs, such as sleeping pills and propofol, to patients. All six were convicted in their first trials. Besides Dr. A, the other five doctors received either fines or suspended prison sentences and have appealed their cases.

Actor Yoo Ah-in is facing charges for the habitual administration of medical propofol 181 times under the pretense of sleep anesthesia for cosmetic procedures in Seoul from September 2020 to March 2022. His first trial is scheduled for September 3, with prosecutors seeking a four-year prison sentence.
