At a press conference on August 19, an official from the National Police Agency stated, "We are currently coordinating the schedule for his summoning." The official added, "We will investigate in detail how he came to be operating the electric scooter while under the influence of alcohol."
The police also clarified that they plan to finalize the schedule within the week but will not conduct the summons during weekends or late at night. "We will follow the same procedures applied to other suspects," the official said, addressing the question of whether there would be a public photo line.
Additionally, the police will investigate claims that Suga and his agency, Big Hit Music, attempted to downplay the incident by referring to the electric scooter as an "electric kickboard" in their apology. "If there is any attempt to minimize the issue, the investigation team will look into it thoroughly," the official noted.
On August 6, Suga was involved in an accident while riding an electric scooter after consuming alcohol in Yongsan-gu. Suga reportedly returned home on the scooter after drinking at a meal. He was unaware that riding the electric scooter under the influence was illegal and misjudged the distance to his home. He fell while dismounting the scooter in front of his house and was subsequently tested for alcohol, which led to his license being revoked and a fine being issued.
Contrary to earlier reports, Suga's vehicle was identified as an "electric scooter," not an "electric kickboard." His blood alcohol concentration was recorded at 0.227%, well above the legal limit of 0.08%, intensifying scrutiny over the incident.
Suga is currently serving an alternative military service as a social worker, with his service scheduled to conclude in June next year.
