Suga, a member of BTS recently involved in a controversy over drunk driving on an electric scooter, has been referred to the prosecution.

According to the Yongsan Police Station in Seoul, Suga was sent to the Seoul Western District Prosecutors' Office without detention on charges of drunk driving under the Road Traffic Act at around 2 p.m. on the 30th. The incident occurred 24 days prior.

Suga, who is currently serving as a social service worker, is accused of consuming alcohol and then riding an electric scooter near his home in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, at approximately 11:15 p.m. on August 6th.

When police stopped Suga while he was on the scooter, his blood alcohol level was found to be 0.227%, which is considered to be in the 'drunken' range.

Suga reported to the police on August 23rd, 17 days after the incident, where he was investigated for about three hours and admitted to the charges.

Following this, Suga posted a handwritten apology on the fan community Weverse on August 25th, stating, "I would like to express my apologies again with shame. I deeply regret the disappointment and hurt caused to my fans and everyone who loves me due to my wrongdoing."

He later amended his initial apology, which was perceived as minimizing the situation. In his revised statement, he said, "I neglected my responsibility to act in a way that reflects the love I have received. I made the mistake of riding an electric scooter after drinking on the night of August 6th. I apologize for any confusion caused by my first apology, which I posted hastily on the 7th. I should have thought more carefully, but I failed to do so."

He concluded, "I will strive not to repeat this mistake and will live with repentance. I am prepared to face criticism and consequences. Once again, I sincerely apologize for causing a public disturbance and disappointing many people."
Meanwhile, Suga, who began basic military training at a center in Nonsan, Chungcheongnam-do in March, is currently serving as a social service worker. His call-up date is June 2025.
