KBS 'Gwangbokjeol Kimigayo Opera Screening, Production Team Replacement' (Full Story)

KBS apologized for screening a Japanese opera 'Madame Butterfly' on National Liberation Day.

KBS said on the 15th that it apologizes for causing concern and disappointment to viewers in relation to the program 'KBS Broadcasting Seat', a broadcasting program for performing arts recordings.

The performance was originally recorded on June 29 and was scheduled to air at the end of July, but it was pushed back by the Olympic broadcast, and it was broadcast at dawn on Liberation Day. Considering the changed schedule, I deeply apologize once again for causing a stir on the meaningful Liberation Day due to the production team's negligence to check whether there are any problems with the broadcast content and whether the timeliness is appropriate. To prevent this from happening again in the future, we will pay more attention to the production by investigating the broadcast details and asking for reasonable responsibility," he said.

KBS broadcasted the opera 『Madame Butterfly" on KBS1"KBS Broadcasting Seat" at midnight on the 15th. `Madame Butterfly' is considered one of Giacomo Puccini's three major operas and tells the story of the first lady who became an American soldier Fingerton and a geisha in Nagasaki, Japan, in the 1990s, when the United States forced Japan to open a port. However, there was a controversy that it was not suitable for screening on Liberation Day because the female protagonist in the play appeared in kimono from beginning to end, and the Japanese Kimi song melody was inserted in the wedding scene. In response, KBS decided to replace the second part of 'Madame Butterfly', which was scheduled for the 16th, with another performance broadcast.

Next is the full story of KBS's admission.
