SM Entertainment has provided an update regarding NCT’s Taeil in connection with a sexual assault accusation.

On August 29, SM stated, “We, along with Taeil, first became aware of the allegations against him earlier this month. Taeil was questioned by the police on August 28.”

The Seoul Bangbae Police Station is investigating Taeil following an accusation made in June by a woman, identified as A, alleging that he sexually assaulted her. Despite this, Taeil was seen attending NCT 127's 8th anniversary event at the Jamsil Indoor Gymnasium in Songpa-gu, Seoul, on August 3 and 4, leading to questions about his activities during this period. SM Entertainment addressed these concerns.

On August 28, SM explained, “We have recently confirmed that Taeil is facing allegations related to sexual crimes. Given the severity of the situation, we have determined that he can no longer continue with team activities. After discussions with Taeil, it has been decided that he will be withdrawing from the group.”

Taeil debuted with NCT in 2016 and has been a member of both NCT 127 and NCT U.
