The Seoul Metropolitan Police are expected to soon conclude their investigation into BTS member Suga (Min Yoon-gi, 31), who is under suspicion for drunk driving. According to Kim Bong-sik, head of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, the investigation, which began on August 23, is nearly finished. The case is anticipated to be forwarded to the prosecution as early as this week, although the exact timing has yet to be determined.

Suga was questioned at the Yongsan Police Station in Seoul on August 23, 17 days after the incident. During the investigation, he admitted to the charges against him.

On August 25, Suga issued a second apology on the fan community platform Weverse. In his statement, he expressed deep regret for his actions. "I sincerely apologize to my fans and everyone who supports me for my misconduct," he said. "I made a grave mistake by failing to live up to the responsibility of repaying your love with appropriate actions. I am deeply sorry for the confusion caused by my initial, hasty apology on August 7. My carelessness has caused distress to everyone who cares about me."

He further acknowledged the impact of his actions: "This has tarnished the precious memories I’ve shared with the members and fans and has negatively affected BTS’s reputation. I am profoundly sorry and distressed by the damage caused to both the members and the team."

Suga also anticipated criticism and consequences: "I will accept any criticism and punishment that comes my way and sincerely apologize for causing a public stir and disappointing many."

The incident in question occurred on August 6, when Suga was found drunk driving an electric scooter near his home in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, at around 11:15 p.m. His blood alcohol level was recorded at 0.227%, significantly above the legal limit of 0.08%, leading to charges under the Road Traffic Act.
