Yongsan Police Station in Seoul said on the 7th that it is investigating Suga on charges of drunk driving under the Road Traffic Act.
According to police, Suga was found collapsed on a road in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, on the 6th. A nearby police officer smelled alcohol while trying to help Suga who fell and conducted a breathalyzer test at the scene. As a result of the sobriety test, the blood alcohol level of sugar was the level of license cancellation (0.08%). As a result, Sugar was revoked and fined.
However, there was a possibility that Suga could face criminal punishment. Suga and his agency Big Hit Music explained that Suga rode an electric kickboard, a type of personal mobile device (PM), but police said the device was against the standard under the Road Traffic Act.
According to Article 2 of the Road Traffic Act, if the motor bicycle travels at more than 25 km/h, the motor does not operate and weighs less than 30 kg. The device driven by Suga is a model with a saddle that can be seated.
If the device is a personal mobile device, it will end up as an administrative disposition, but if it is classified as a scooter, criminal penalties such as fines can be imposed under Article 148-2 of the Road Traffic Act (a person who drives drunk will be sentenced to a fine or more).
In addition, the Military Manpower Administration was also turned upside down as controversy over drinking erupted while Suga was serving as a social service worker.
If a social service worker engages in prohibited acts such as drinking, gambling, and controversy during working hours, he or she must serve an extended service of five days for each warning. However, there will be no additional disciplinary action or punishment as this incident occurred after work hours and cannot be considered a violation of the duty to maintain dignity.
In response, some netizens filed a complaint calling for a warning, saying that severe punishment is needed in consideration of the social influence of the BTS.
In this regard, an official from the Military Manpower Administration said "We plan to strengthen related education so that social service personnel can act faithfully outside of working hours."
Suga and Big Hit Music are in a position to thoroughly reflect on the incident.
Suga neatly acknowledged and apologized for his mistake, saying "I feel very heavy and sorry to visit you with disappointment"There were no people affected or damaged facilities, but my responsibility is inexcusable."
Big Hit Music is also "We apologize for disappointing many people due to the artist's inappropriate behavior. As a social service worker, he asked for forgiveness, saying, "I will receive any disposition from my workplace for actions that caused social controversy."
