T.O.P Removes BIGBANG References from Profiles, Sparking Fan Backlash

Former Big Bang member T.O.P (Choi Seung-hyun) has recently made headlines for his decision to remove all traces of BIGBANG from his social media profiles.

On August 19th, which marked the 18th anniversary of BIGBANG's debut, fans noticed that T.O.P had blocked accounts of fans who tagged him in their celebratory posts. This included blocking accounts associated with fellow BIGBANG members G-Dragon and Taeyang. Fans have expressed disappointment and concern over these actions.

The controversy surrounding T.O.P dates back to his legal issues in 2017 when he was hospitalized for a drug overdose and faced police investigation for cannabis use while serving as a police officer. Subsequently, T.O.P was sentenced to 10 months in prison, followed by two years of probation, and was discharged from the police force, serving as a social service worker instead. His service was marred by allegations of preferential treatment and misuse of sick leave, further fueling public criticism. Following these controversies, T.O.P eventually left BIGBANG.

Currently, T.O.P has removed all references to BIGBANG from his profiles, including deleting the group's music and awards from his personal pages. This move has unsettled fans, who argue that T.O.P's current success is inextricably linked to his time with BIGBANG and that his actions appear dismissive of the support he received from fans over nearly two decades.

Despite the tension, T.O.P is set to appear in the upcoming season of Netflix's "Squid Game," where he will play a retired idol—a role that some find ironically fitting given his current situation.

Meanwhile, G-Dragon, Taeyang, and Daesung have taken to their personal accounts to thank their fans for their continued support.
