KBS, is it a public broadcast? On Gwangbokjeol, 'Dokdo Japanese Land' Map Kimigayo Opera
KBS is under fire for forgetting the duty of public broadcasting.

The opera 「Madame Butterfly" was broadcast on KBS1'KBS Broadcasting Seat', which aired at midnight on the 15th.

'Madame Butterfly' is an opera composed by Giacomo Puccini that premiered in 1904 and is set in Nagasaki, Japan, in the 1990s, when the United States forced Japan to open a port. This work, which tells the story of an American soldier Fingerton and Mrs. Butterfly who became a geisha, is also a work with a dark Japanese style, with the female protagonist appearing in kimono from beginning to end, and the Japanese Kimi song melody inserted in the wedding scene.

However, protests continued over the fact that the work was organized on National Liberation Day, not on any other day. The controversy is expected to intensify as it is even scheduled to be re-run on the 16th.

Meanwhile, KBS also used a graphic map that includes Dokdo within Japan's exclusive economic zone (EEZ) in the news.

Professor Seo Kyung-duk of Sungshin Women's University said on the 15th, "'There were so many DMs (direct messages) in his personal account that something truly absurd happened again. In KBS1'News9', which aired last evening, Korea's Dokdo Island has become a big controversy by using a graphic map included in Japan's exclusive economic zone" he said.

Professor Seo pointed out, "(In the news) that North Korea has launched a ballistic missile for the first time in the new year and used a graphic map, reflecting Japan's position to claim Ulleungdo and Dokdo as the exclusive economic zone boundary."

Currently, KBS has not expressed its position on the controversy.
