Actor Yoo Ah-in (Uhm Hong-sik, 37) was recently investigated by the police in connection with a sexual assault allegation.

According to the Yongsan Police Station in Seoul, Yoo Ah-in was summoned to the station at around 6:30 p.m. on August 28th and was questioned for approximately an hour and a half.

The investigation pertains to allegations that Yoo Ah-in sexually assaulted a man, referred to as Mr. A, who was sleeping in an officetel on July 14th. Under current law, such cases are treated as rape when the assault involves the same sex.

In addition to this recent case, Yoo Ah-in has faced separate legal issues. He was previously indicted without detention on charges related to the habitual use of the anesthetic propofol, having received it 181 times at hospitals in Seoul between September 2020 and March 2022. He is also accused of illegally purchasing 1,100 doses of sleeping pills under another person’s name on 44 occasions between May 2021 and August 2022. Furthermore, Yoo Ah-in is alleged to have smoked marijuana in the United States with four accomplices, including an acquaintance named Choi, and to have instructed others on how to use the drug. On July 24th, the prosecution requested a four-year prison term for Yoo Ah-in.
