The news of Ko's YouTube opening drew fierce public criticism, but the channel's views rose rapidly.

It easily exceeded 100,000 views in a single day, and in particular, the number of subscribers exceeded 5,000, drawing attention.



In addition, on the 20th, a petition was registered in the National Assembly's petition for public consent titled 「A petition for strong sanctions at the National Assembly for the actions of YouTubers who have been convicted of sex crimes」.

Earlier, Ko Young-wook opened an Instagram to communicate with fans once in 2002, but social media was eventually shut down.

At the time, Ko Young-wook said "Now I want to live by carefully communicating with the world" and "I will always reflect and live by trying to become a better person," but a few days later, Instagram was shut down.

Ko Young-wook's account closure is in accordance with Instagram's operation policy prohibiting the creation of sex offenders accounts. Instagram posted on its customer center page "A convicted sex offender cannot use Instagram.

In this regard, Ko Young-wook said "Instagram has been closed. I would like to thank those who were interested in it for a while."

Meanwhile, Ko Young-wook was put on trial for sexually assaulting and forcibly harassing three minors four times in his officetel and car in Seoul from July 2010 to December 2012.

The Supreme Court sentenced him to two and a half years in prison in December 2013. It also issued an order to disclose and notify personal information for five years and attach a location tracking electronic device (electronic anklet) for three years.

Since then, Ko Young-wook was released from prison in southern Seoul in 2015 while wearing an electronic anklet, and on July 9, 2018, the period of wearing it expired and the electronic anklet was removed.
