Studio S, SBS Media Group's drama production and distribution company, and NTT Docomo Studio & Live, Japan's NTT Docomo Studio & Live (a joint venture) held an agreement ceremony for the co-production and business of the Japanese remake of the drama "Stove League" at the 「BCW 2024」 held at COEX in Seoul on the 28th.
'Stove League', which aired on SBS in 2019, is a hot winter story in which the new general manager of the last-place professional baseball Dream, who has dried up the tears of fans, prepares for an extraordinary season, with a maximum viewership of 20.8%, and was considered a masterpiece of both box office and cinematic quality. Expectations are high on how 'Stove League', which won a number of awards, including the SBS Acting Grand Prize' and the '2020 Baeksang Arts Awards Drama Prize', will be reborn in Japan due to the strong performance and solid story of actors Nam Goong-min and Park Eun-bin.
Meanwhile, the signing ceremony was attended by Hong Sung-chang, CEO of Studio S Drama Division, actor Ha Do-kwon, who plays Kang Doo-ki, the franchise star of the original 'Stove League', and actor Cha Yeop, who plays a strong catcher Seo Young-joo.
CEO Hong Seong-chang said "Studio S is merging with SBS Content Hub, SBS's content distribution subsidiary, to strengthen its production and distribution capabilities targeting the global market."In particular, we want to increase our market competitiveness in Japan through this opportunity for co-production and business of 'Stove League'," he said, raising expectations for a remake.
Through this agreement, Studio S plans to participate directly in the Japanese drama market and seek competitive content production for production and distribution capabilities in Japan and entry into the global market.
