According to Money Today on the 27th, the Consulate General of LA notified Yoo Seung-joon of his refusal to issue a visa, which he applied for in February, on June 18.
According to reports, the Consulate General has decided to maintain the ban on Yoo Seung-joon from entering the country"It is the case that Yoo Seung-joon's actions after July 2, 2020 are likely to harm the interests of the Republic of Korea, such as security, maintenance of order, public welfare, and diplomatic relations.", he explained.
The Consulate General mentioned 'July 2, 2020' is the second time that Yoo Seung-joon was denied visa issuance.
When Yoo Seung-joon was denied visa issuance at the time, he appealed his injustice through various media such as YouTube and Africa TV. The Consulate General pointed out that such an action constitutes a case in which there is a risk of harming the interests of the Republic of Korea.
Previously, Yoo Seung-joon obtained U.S. citizenship and gave up his Korean citizenship and avoided military service after leaving the country in 2002, just before joining the military, saying he would return from an overseas performance. As a result, Yoo Seung-joon was banned from entering the country by the Ministry of Justice.
Yoo Seung-joon, who has not been able to step on Korean soil since then, expressed his intention to return to Korea in 2015 with a visa for overseas Koreans, but the Consulate General of LA refused to issue the visa, leading to a lawsuit.
After a revocation and retrial, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of Yoo Seung-joon, but the Consulate General of LA said, `Yoo Seung-joon's evasion of military service could harm the national interest", he again refused to issue it.
In response, Yoo Seung-joon filed a second lawsuit against the Consulate General of LA in October 2020, and Yoo lost in the first trial, but the second trial ruled in favor of Yoo Seung-joon and to cancel the rejection.
In response, the Korean Government Justice Corporation, which represented the Consul General of LA, objected, but the Supreme Court dismissed the appeal, judging that there was no problem with the conclusion of the second trial, and Yoo Seung-joon won the final victory in November last year.
It was hoped that this would lead to Yoo Seung-joon's trip to Korea, but the consulate and the Ministry of Justice blocked Yoo Seung-joon from entering the country again for new reasons.
