'Drug Arrest' Yoo Ah-in appeals to one-year prison sentence for 檢

The prosecution appealed against the first trial's ruling, which sentenced Yoo Ah-in to one year in prison on charges of habitual drug use.

The Seoul Central District Court said on the 4th that it has filed an appeal with the intent to sentence Yoo Ah-in to a heavier sentence.

Yoo Ah-in was indicted on charges of habitually selling and administering drugs such as Porofol Zolpidem 181 times from August 2020 to March last year, and illegally prescribing sleeping pills 44 times from May 2021 to August last year in the name of another person. He is also accused of smoking marijuana, forcing his party to smoke marijuana in the United States, and teaching acquaintances to destroy evidence.

In this regard, the Seoul Central District Court's Criminal Agreement Department 25 (Chief Judge Ji Gwi-yeon) ordered Yoo Ah-in to pay a one-year fine of 2 million won, complete 80-hour drug rehabilitation education program, and pay a fine of 1.54 million won.

The court arrested Yoo Ah-in in court, judging that there is a possibility of escape, saying, `In light of the period, frequency, method, and quantity of crimes, there is considerable room for criticism and the quality of the crime is not good.' Nevertheless, it was taken into account the fact that infants have suffered from sleep disorders and depression for a long time, and that they have been habitually administering and purchasing medical drugs due to the pain of not being able to sleep.

In response, the prosecution filed an appeal, saying, `Even though the crime was serious, the sentence was significantly less than the prosecution's sentence (4 years in prison)."
