'Drunk driving' BTS Suga is briefly prosecuted with a fine of 15 million won
Group BTS Suga was briefly charged with drunk driving of an electric scooter and was charged with a fine of 15 million won.

According to Newsis on the 11th, the Seoul Western District Prosecutors' Office's Criminal Department 2 (Chief Prosecutor Choo Hye-yoon) summarily indicted Suga, who is accused of violating the Road Traffic Act (Drunk Driving), with a fine of 15 million won on the 10th.

Suga's summary indictment was announced on the 10th, but the amount of the claim was not disclosed.

Summary prosecution is a procedure in which the prosecution asks the court to impose fines or fines only through a written hearing instead of handing it over to a formal trial. If the parties or the courts do not express their intention to go to a formal trial, the sentence will be finalized.

Suga is suspected of driving an electric scooter while intoxicated on the road in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, at around 11:15 p.m. on the 6th of last month.

At that time, sugar's blood alcohol concentration was 0.227%, far above the license revocation standard (0.08% or more). According to the Road Traffic Act, if the blood alcohol level is 0.2% or more, the punishment will be strengthened with imprisonment for more than two years and less than five years or fines of more than 10 million won and less than 20 million won.

Suga attended Yongsan Police Station in Seoul on the 23rd of last month, 17 days after he was caught driving under the influence of alcohol, and admitted to driving under the influence of alcohol.

SUGA said, "I'm so sorry"I'd like to say that I'm very sorry for causing you a lot of hurt and disappointment with my wrong actions. I am also deeply reflecting and regretting it. I won't let this happen again," he bowed his head.

Suga later posted a second handwritten apology through the fan community Weverse. Suga says "My carelessness is giving everyone who cares for me a hard time. I will try not to do wrong again and live with remorse"This has left a great dent in the precious memories I made with the members and fans and caused a great deal of trouble to the BTS's name. I will be criticized and reprimanded as well as the future disposition", he apologized.

Meanwhile, Suga, who is currently serving as a social service worker, will be released in June 2025.
