Lee Se-young interviewed Coupang Play's original series 'Things After Love' at a cafe in Jongno-gu, Seoul on the morning of the 19th.
Lee Se-young said, `I think I want to show a different appearance from my previous works while doing dramas. In the case of this work, I thought the love story between the two was beautiful. So while working with the director who made a connection while working on 'Operation Seoul', I thought it would not be easy, but it would be an opportunity for me to grow. In terms of personality, it is not very similar to Hong-yi in the play, but I came to participate in the idea of wanting to express the love story of the two beautifully by drawing this character.
Lee Se-young then said "Hong is not good at it, but it was good to try this and that." I thought Hong's biggest attraction was honesty. When I think of Hong, who has changed to the present, I wonder why he closed his mind so much. Even if I get hurt a little, I have good resilience, so I can start again, but I think that's what's different about Hong and me."
Lee Se-young thought it would be nice to be able to play the feeling of real love in this work. It was like a textbook for a melodrama that I grew up watching since I was young. I was able to do it because it was such an authentic melodrama, saying, 'I've never done anything like this before. Is this for people in their 20s and 30s or all ages?? 'Can't you agree?I didn't think too much about ' The biggest concern for me was how much I would sympathize with this character and watch it. I had a lot of worries about how hurt I must have been and changed because the viewers would not understand the parts I was bumping into. Since it is an original work or a work written in the past, I don't think I worried about whether it would be very different.
As this work deals with international love, Lee Se-young also had questions about the possibility of international love. Lee Se-young said "If you watch a movie, it won't be easy when it's someone else, how will you do that. I came to think about this, but while I was in Korea, my mom and dad sometimes didn't visit on holidays, and my friends didn't have any difficulties coming from my professional or anything like that. In fact, I just don't go out and don't meet, and I thought I could do it if I loved them even if they had different nationalities. There must be many people who are as lonely as Hong in each person's personality. I also thought that it would be a relationship that some people have no choice but to struggle with. Since I haven't tried it, I think I can say it's possible," he said with a smile.
'Things After Love' is an emotional melodrama about a woman who forgets everything 'Hong' and a man who is full of regrets 'Jungo' after a fateful love ends. Lee Se-young and Kentaro Sakaguchi will meet Hong and Jun-go, who accidentally met again after the end of their love, to show melodrama chemistry, and Hong Jong-hyun will perform a consistent love story as Min-joon. Nakamura An plays Khanna, who tries to find love that she belatedly realized. It is a location between Korea and Japan, showing the scenery of both countries.
'Things After Love' will be released on Coupang Play on the 27th.
