Korea Communications Standards Commission announces severe disciplinary action for 'KBS Liberation Day'·'JTBC Sugar Misinformation'
The Korea Communications Standards Commission has also decided to state its opinion to KBS, which broadcasted the opera 'Madam Butterfly' with the Japanese national anthem on Liberation Day, and JTBC, which reported the wrong closed-circuit CCTV video in relation to the drunk driving incident of BTS member Suga.

The Korea Communications Standards Commission held a general meeting at the Korea Broadcasting Center in Mok-dong, Seoul on the 2nd. KBS 1TV's 'KBS Broadcasting Seat' aired the opera 'Madame Butterfly' performed at the Seoul Arts Center on June 29 this year at midnight on the 15th of last month. It was pointed out that it was inappropriate for the "Madame Butterfly" to play the Japanese national anthem Kimigayo at the wedding of American officers and Japanese female protagonists, and for the heroine to broadcast traditional Japanese costume kimonos on Liberation Day.

Commissioner Kim Jung-soo said "I'm not saying that Puccini's Mrs. Butterfly should not be released, but I can record and broadcast cultural and artistic programs, but I should have considered that the day is National Liberation Day. A program contrary to public sentiment has been released,' he said, adding that an official's opinion is needed.

In addition, the Korea Communications Standards Commission voted for the administrative guidance 'recommendation', judging that the image of the Taegeukgi, which was reversed left and right in the weather section of the KBS news program, was a mistake that occurred in the path such as editing rather than an intention.

On the other hand, 'JTBC Newsroom' reported on the 7th of last month that a person was Suga by broadcasting a CCTV video of him passing by the boulevard on an electric scooter, and police investigation confirmed that the man in the video was not Suga.

The deliberation committee members took a tough stance, calling it a clear misinformation. Chairman Ryu Hee-rim "Last year, when reviewing broadcasters citing Kim Man-bae's transcripts, he imposed legal sanctions. If we use things that have not been confirmed since then, we are deciding on heavy punishment.' Kim Jung-soo also said, `It is a rule not to broadcast when it is not confirmed. Predicting and reporting this is a dangerous behavior."

On the other hand, the production team's opinion statements often presuppose legal sanctions that are applied as reasons for deduction in the case of re-authorization or re-approval of broadcasters. This is because it is essential to go through the process of expressing opinions before deciding on legal sanctions.
