Kim Dong-wan, a weather forecaster, passed away on the 15th. The mortuary was set up in Room 8 of the funeral hall of Ewha Womans University Seoul Hospital in Gangseo-gu, Seoul. The coffin will be borne at 7:30 a.m. on the 17th, and the burial site is Hambaeksan Memorial Park.
Former notification officer Kim Dong-wan joined the National Observatory, the predecessor of the Korea Meteorological Administration, in 1959 and worked as a forecaster, but in the 1970s, he served as the first weatherman while delivering the weather on Dongyang Broadcasting Corporation (TBC). At that time, there was no office in the Meteorological Agency 'tong storage', but it became a formal name when the station arbitrarily called his post as an informant. At that time, there was no weatherman in the broadcasting station, so when the anchor at the end of the news moved the microphone to the central government office, former notification officer Kim made the forecast.
Since 1974, he has been in charge of weather forecasting at TBC, and since retirement, he has been in charge of weather forecasting at MBC since 1982. Thanks to his witty prediction of life, he was awarded the National Medal of Merit of Camellia on World Weather Day in 2010. In particular, former notification officer Kim is said to have laid the foundation for weather forecasting broadcasts. He easily conveyed the weather by hand drawing a weather map and utilized phrases such as "Fox's Wedding Day" and "The heat as if the flies were nodding off".
