Yang Jae-woong and Hani were scheduled to get married in September. However, rumors of a delayed marriage were raised once when a patient died at a mental hospital in Bucheon, Gyeonggi-do, where Yang Jae-woong is the head of the hospital. In the aftermath, Hani voluntarily dropped out of JTBC4's new entertainment program 'ReviewNecut'.
Earlier in July, SBS reported that a woman A died at a mental hospital in Bucheon, Gyeonggi-do, run by a famous psychiatrist. It is reported that A was hospitalized on May 10 for the treatment of addiction to diet drugs containing narcotics.
CCTV released at the time showed A grabbing his stomach and complaining of pain, but late at night, a nursing assistant and a guardian tied A to bed after feeding him/her medicine. After that, when A had a nosebleed and gasped, he released the bond within an hour and left the room without any action. The hospital eventually started emergency measures for A, who lost consciousness, but A died 17 days after being hospitalized. As a result of the autopsy, the cause of death of A was estimated to be a pseudo intestinal obstruction.
The bereaved family of A filed a criminal complaint against the medical staff for abandoned death and filed a complaint with the National Human Rights Commission of Korea. The police booked the CEO and employees for violating the medical law and launched an investigation. In particular, when the hospital where the accident occurred after the report was known to be run by the brothers, some netizens raised suspicions, saying, "Isn't it a hospital run by Yang Jae-jin and Yang Jae-woong, a psychiatrist who gained fame through various broadcasts?"
As the controversy grew, Yang Jae-woong said through his agency, "In connection with the incident that occurred during the hospitalization process at Wjin Hospital, I and all the medical staff cannot hide their terrible feelings, and I sincerely apologize to the bereaved families who are saddened by the loss of the deceased and their families."As the head of the hospital, he takes this case very seriously. In response to the ongoing investigation, the hospital is doing its best to cooperate with external organizations, including providing CCTV, which contains all the conditions at the time, including the medical chart.
