Yoo Ah-in Cleared of Sexual Assault Charges as Police Find Insufficient Evidence

The police have decided not to charge actor Yoo Ah-in (Eom Hong-sik, 37) with sexual assault and have closed the investigation.

On September 11, the Yongsan Police Station in Seoul concluded that there was insufficient evidence to substantiate the allegations against Yoo Ah-in.

Earlier, a man identified as A filed a complaint on July 15, claiming he was sexually assaulted by Yoo Ah-in while sleeping in a private residence in Yongsan-gu, Seoul. The police summoned Yoo Ah-in on August 28 and investigated the allegations based on the accuser's statements, witness testimonies, and nearby CCTV footage. Additionally, the investigation included a drug test, which returned negative results.

Yoo Ah-in's lawyer, Bang Jung-hyun, stated, "It has been confirmed that the allegations against Yoo Ah-in are unfounded," and urged the public to refrain from unnecessary speculation about his personal life.

In a separate legal matter, Yoo Ah-in was sentenced to one year in prison and fined 2 million won in the first trial for violations related to the Narcotics Control Act, including drug use, distribution, and evidence tampering.
