Lee Jin-ho Under Investigation for Illegal Gambling and Loan Fraud

The police are investigating allegations of illegal gambling and loan fraud involving comedian Lee Jin-ho.

At a regular press conference on the 28th, Woo Jong-soo, head of the National Investigation Headquarters, revealed that a petition had been received regarding Lee Jin-ho's suspected loan fraud related to gambling and his acquaintances. The Gangnam Police Station is conducting an investigation into the matter, stating, "We will investigate sequentially according to the procedures."

On the 14th, Lee Jin-ho admitted, "I started playing on an illegal gambling site on the Internet by chance in 2020 and accumulated an unaffordable debt." He is reported to have borrowed more than 2.3 billion won, including 1 billion won from colleagues and 1.3 billion won from lenders. Notably, several individuals in the entertainment industry, including BTS' Jimin, singer Ha Sung-woon, Young-tak, and comedian Lee Soo-geun, have been affected by Lee Jin-ho's actions. Young-tak, however, stated that he received the full amount back in September, two months after providing financial assistance in July of last year, while others have yet to be repaid.

In Jimin's case, he lent money in good faith, while Lee Soo-geun was misled by Lee Jin-ho's claims regarding his mother's deteriorating health, adding to his regret over the situation.

In response to the allegations, a netizen filed a complaint with the National Newspaper to investigate Lee Jin-ho's alleged illegal gambling and fraud. The police subsequently assigned the case to the Gangnam Police Station and conducted a three-hour investigation on the 22nd.
