The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's crime prevention order announced on the 1st that it arrested a total of seven people, including a woman in her 20s and a male college student in her 20s, on charges of violating the performance law.
According to the police, they are accused of using macro programs to purchase famous singer concerts and musical tickets or reselling tickets to used markets from 2021 to August this year.
The macro program is a program designed to perform a specific task repeatedly with a single input, and can be accessed in one to two minutes to secure multiple tickets.
The most expensive ticket sold was actor Byun Woo-suk's fan meeting ticket held in July, and the ticket worth 77,000 won was traded at 2.35 million won, 30 times the price. In addition, tickets for Lim Young-woong's concert, which is priced at 177,000 won, were sold up to 800,000 won per ticket.
According to the police, A bought 331 musical tickets and collected 100 million won, while B sold 15 tickets, including Lim Young-woong's concert tickets secured with macros, on a second-hand trading site, earning 13.38 million won.
The performance law, revised in March, imposes a sentence of up to one year in prison or a fine of up to 10 million won for fraudulent sales of tickets using macros.
A police official said "In addition to the performance law, we will actively consider applying the charges of obstruction of business under the criminal law and violation of the Information and Communication Network Act to the arrested suspects."
