FTISLAND’s Choi Min-hwan to Perform in Taiwan Amid Scandal

Choi Min-hwan, a member of the group FTISLAND, is scheduled to perform in Taiwan amidst allegations of inappropriate behavior following revelations made by his ex-wife, Yul-hee, a former member of the group LABOUM.

On the 25th, the organizer of FTISLAND's concert in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, stated, "After extensive discussion, Choi Min-hwan will perform backstage at the FTISLAND Kaohsiung Concert due to personal circumstances." They continued, "We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding and support."

FTISLAND, which includes Choi Min-hwan, will take the stage as part of their "2024 FTISLAND LIVE" IN ASIA tour on October 26 in Kaohsiung. The group recently performed in Macau and Hong Kong, with another Macau show scheduled for November 10.

While Choi Min-hwan will participate in the Taiwan performance amid the controversy, future appearances remain uncertain. Despite being listed as a headliner for the "Grand Mint Festival 2024" on November 2, event organizers are reportedly preparing countermeasures.

Previously, on October 24, Yul-hee released audio recordings alleging inappropriate actions by Choi Min-hwan. In these recordings, she claimed that Choi, while intoxicated, acted inappropriately in the presence of family members, making unwanted advances that she initially mistook for affection but later questioned.

Additional recordings reportedly feature Choi Min-hwan making comments about illicit services, such as "Is there no lady available?" and requesting "Please make a reservation" and "Send me the amount on Telegram." When Yul-hee suggested taking a family trip, he allegedly responded dismissively.

In response, Choi Min-hwan's agency stated, "Though details of their personal lives are difficult for us to verify, Choi Min-hwan acknowledges the disappointment this has caused the public and intends to withdraw from all media activities, including broadcasts involving his children."

Meanwhile, fellow FTISLAND member Lee Hong-gi addressed the issue on the fan platform Weverse, stating, "This is their personal matter. Mistakes were made, and apologies should follow." He added, "However, we shouldn't rush to believe everything. I'll continue to stand by and protect what’s important."
