In September, the Busan District Prosecutors' Office's Public International Crime Investigation Department indicted YG executive producer Yang Hyun-suk without detention on charges of violating the Specific Crime Aggravated Punishment Act.
Yang Hyun-seok is accused of bringing two luxury watches worth a total of KRW 828.06 million into Korea without reporting them to customs when he entered the country through Incheon International Airport in September 2014.
According to Article 241 of the Customs Act, to import goods from a foreign country, it is necessary to declare the quantity and price of the product name specification and other matters prescribed by Presidential Decree. Imports of goods without reporting can result in fines equivalent to up to five years in prison or 10 times the amount of tariffs and higher than the cost of goods, and if the cost of imported goods is more than 200 million won and less than 500 million won, it will be aggravated under the Specific Crime Weighted Penalty Act.
YG is deeply sorry for the prosecution's hasty and unreasonable indictment ahead of the expiration of the 10-year statute of limitations. In 2017, Yang Hyun-seok, then general producer, was investigated faithfully, and as a public figure, he voluntarily submitted all the sponsorship watches to the investigation agency because he did not want to be caught up in even minor problems. During the investigation, the company's representative statements changed from time to time, and the prosecution concluded that the sponsored goods were brought into the country without customs declaration without proper investigation by the reference persons" he explained.
However, a media outlet reported that Yang Hyun-seok's watches were not sponsored, but sent a message to B, the head of luxury watch brand Asia, asking him to prepare the requested watch before Yang Hyun-seok visited Singapore on September 12-16, 2014, due to a concert schedule of YG singers and an investment agreement ceremony for luxury companies. According to the report, Yang Hyun-seok's skull-patterned watch, which was handed to B, cost 711.51 million won, and the additional black watch, which he received, cost 116.55 million won.
Yang Hyun-suk is on trial for threatening Han Seo-hee, an informant, to reverse his testimony to cover up the drug administration case of former iKON member B.I., although he was not indicted on charges of tax evasion and tax evasion. On top of that, Yang Hyun-suk suffered another image blow due to the alleged tax evasion of watches.
Yang Hyun-suk's first trial will take place at the Seoul Western District Court at 11 a.m. on Nov. 15.

Judge Park Joon-seok of the Jeju District Court sentenced Lee Eun-joo, who was accused of dangerous driving and violating the Road Traffic Act (Drunk Driving) under the Specific Crime Weighted Penalty Act, to a fine of 12 million won on September 23, 2020.
According to the ruling, Lee Eun-joo was put on trial at around 11:55 p.m. on June 24 of the same year for driving a Carnival car while traveling about 12 kilometers from Hallim-eup to Hankyung-myeon, Jeju-si, and hitting the vehicle behind her.
At that time, Lee Eun-joo's blood alcohol concentration was 0.120%, which was the level of license cancellation. The driver and passenger of the affected vehicle suffered injuries that required treatment for two weeks.
