On the 18th, Jessi's agency, DOD, issued a statement: "We apologize once again for the recent unfortunate incident that caused concern," they said.
DOD continued, "After having many discussions with Jessi regarding her future activities, we have, at her request, mutually decided to terminate her exclusive contract, effective October 18, 2024."
"We would like to express our gratitude to Jessi for her time with us, albeit brief, and we will continue to sincerely support her future endeavors," the agency added.
The controversy began on the 11th when JTBC's 'CRIME CHIEF' reported an incident involving Jessi. According to the report, an 18-year-old fan, identified as A, had requested a photo with Jessi on the early morning of the 29th of last month. A was allegedly assaulted by Jessi's group after the request. While Jessi reportedly intervened to stop the assault, she left the scene without taking further action, sparking public criticism.
A also claimed that both Jessi and the man involved left the scene following a police report. Subsequently, A filed a complaint against Jessi and her associates on charges of assault.
The following day, Jessi issued an apology, stating, "I didn’t know the person who assaulted the fan. During a personal meeting with an acquaintance, a fan of mine asked me for a photo, but I politely refused twice because it was late at night. Suddenly, the fan was assaulted by someone I had met for the first time that day. I was so shocked by the unexpected situation that I couldn't properly consider the fan's situation at the time. Regardless of the circumstances, I deeply regret the distress caused to my fan, and I feel a moral responsibility.
