On the 18th, 'I am Solo', which is being broadcast on SBS Plus and ENA, expressed its position that "We are confirming the adoption of witnesses for the National Audit." Producer Nam Kyu-hong, the director of `I'm Solo', was selected as a witness related to the 'copyrights infringement' of broadcasting writers during the comprehensive inspection of the Ministry of Culture and Sports at the National Assembly's audit of the National Assembly scheduled for the 24th as a representative of the production company, Chief Entertainment. Producer Nam Kyu-hong's adoption of witnesses is known to have proceeded without disagreement. The adoption of witnesses was made at the request of Rep. Kang Yoo-jung of the Democratic Party of Korea, the proportional representative of culture and arts.
Kang proposed the 「Standard Contract Spread Support Act」(Performance Act, Popular Culture and Arts Industry Development Act, Animation Industry Promotion Act, E-Sports Promotion Act, and some amendments to the Content Industry Promotion Act) as his first bill. After hearing about the adoption of witnesses by phone from an official at the administrative office of the National Assembly's stylistic committee, producer Nam Kyu-hong replied, "We are currently filming in Jinan, Jeollabuk-do Province." When a National Assembly official said "I will visit you in person", he/she did not answer phone calls and text messages and lost contact.
Even Chief Entertainment's office was firmly locked. An official said, `We went to the mobile phone address to serve the attendance request with the cooperation of the telecommunications company, but it was not related to producer Nam Gyu-hong. In the end, he publicly served a request for witness attendance on the Internet."
Rep. Kang delivered the news of producer Nam Kyu-hong's avoidance and asked, `If producer Nam Kyu-hong does not appear at the parliamentary audit on the 24th, I would like you to immediately put the prosecution of producer Nam Kyu-hong on the agenda prior to the parliamentary audit.'
According to the Act on Testimony and Appraisal in the National Assembly, there are provisions to punish non-attendance of witnesses and appraisers. Failure to attend without justifiable reasons will lead to a National Assembly complaint, which will result in up to five years in prison or a fine of more than 10 million won and up to 50 million won.
Producer Nam Kyu-hong has previously been controversial over his power trip, verbal abuse, and disparagement of broadcast writers. In response, the chief entertainment, which he represents, was reported to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism for violating written contracts and infringing rights.
