NewJeans' Hanni to Attend Parliamentary Audit Over Harassment Claims

With NewJeans' Hanni announcing that she would attend the parliamentary audit, her family also actively expressed their support.

On the 10th, Hanni shared on the fan communication platform, "A message from my mom! She wanted to share it with Bunnies, but there's no other way, so I'm posting it here!" She then shared a message from her mother with her fans.

Hanni's mother expressed her full support for her daughter's decision to attend the parliamentary audit in a heartfelt message. "I wholeheartedly support all of Hanni's decisions," she said. "I was very upset when Hanni told me about the incident at HYBE. It felt like a situation that could repeat itself in her life. We needed to make sure this wouldn't happen again, so I encouraged her to speak up," she added.

Hanni's mother also stated, "It’s a huge responsibility for Hanni to attend the National Assembly, and she doesn’t take it lightly. It took a lot of courage for her to stand up for herself, and we’re extremely proud of her. Through this, Hanni’s past, present, and future will unfold, helping her grow stronger for the years to come."

Recently, Hanni told her fans, "I’ve made up my mind! I'm going to the National Assembly for the state audit! I’ll go alone," expressing her determination to attend the parliamentary audit. "I'm doing this for myself, the members, and Bunnies," she said. "The managers and the company don’t know yet, but after thinking about it a lot, I believe it’s the right decision."

NewJeans' Hanni to Attend Parliamentary Audit Over Harassment Claims

On the 30th of last month, the Environment and Labor Commission voted to summon Hanni as a reference and Kim Joo-young, the chief human resources officer, as a witness.

The National Assembly intends to question Hanni regarding issues of workplace harassment and will ask Kim about the company’s inadequate response to the situation.

Last month, the members of NewJeans revealed they were mistreated by HYBE, calling for the return of former CEO Min Hee-jin and ADOR. Hanni had shared that while waiting for hair and makeup on the fourth floor of HYBE, she greeted other artists and managers but was ignored. The manager had allegedly said, "I told them to ignore it," and later stated to the new CEO that "there was no evidence, so I just tried to brush it off."

Following this revelation, public opinion grew that it constituted workplace harassment, prompting NewJeans' fans to file a complaint with the Ministry of Employment and Labor through a national newspaper.

While much attention has been focused on whether Hanni would attend the parliamentary audit as a reference, she has now confirmed her intent to do so.

Meanwhile, in response to allegations that the group ILLIT ignored NewJeans' Hanni, a BELIFT LAB representative stated, "The manager never instructed anyone to ignore the NewJeans members." ILLIT members also denied that they passed by the NewJeans members without greeting them.
