'Culinary Class Wars' Responds to Chef Triple Star's Scandal

Netflix's 'Culinary Class Wars' has responded to the controversy surrounding the personal life of Chef Triple Star (Kang Seung-won).

"We ask for your understanding that it is difficult for us to confirm or comment on media reports concerning individual cast members," a Netflix representative for 'Culinary Class Wars' told Sports Chosun on the 30th.

According to a Dispatch report, Chef Triple Star first met "A" while attending a U.S. culinary school in 2014, and their relationship was marked by repeated breakups and reunions until 2022. Reportedly, while dating "B" concurrently, Triple Star unilaterally broke up with "B," married "A" in May 2022, and divorced three months later. There was no official marriage registration, so no legal divorce process occurred.

"A" has accused Triple Star of privacy violations, securing employment at a Michelin-starred restaurant through unethical means, and engaging in verbal abuse and intimidation. "A" claimed they gifted a luxury bag to a chef to help Triple Star secure a position at the Michelin restaurant. Although entering a Michelin restaurant with little experience is uncommon, Triple Star countered, stating that they worked as an unpaid intern for three months and were later recognized and hired by the head chef as a full-time employee.

"A" also shared over 40 reflective notes allegedly written by Triple Star, revealing personal struggles and issues in their relationship, including infidelity. After "A" returned to Korea in 2016, they claim long-distance strains led to Triple Star’s continued issues with other women.

Additional revelations included a message from "B" in April 2022, stating, "I have been holding back on contacting him and waited a long time, but I reached out first because of what I went through with him.” Triple Star reportedly responded to the incident by saying, “It was a brief relationship, just to help me move on." However, "B" expressed frustration, noting that their relationship was serious before a sudden breakup without explanation, and added, "I heard rumors about his issues with women, but I never expected to be involved."

"A" also released messages allegedly showing threats and verbal abuse from Triple Star. When "A" began dating a new partner in August last year, Triple Star allegedly responded angrily with alarming statements. Triple Star denied the accusations, stating, "That doesn’t sound like something I would say," but added, “If I did get angry, there must have been a reason."

Triple Star, born in 1991, appeared on Netflix's 'Culinary Class Wars,' where he placed third. Previously, he served as the sous chef at Fine Dining Parasum Seoul, led by judge Ahn Sung-jae, and is currently the head chef at his own fine dining establishment in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam, Seoul.
