During the National Defense Commission's parliamentary audit at the National Assembly on the 11th, Defense Minister Kim Jong-chul stated, "I don't think it's reasonable that Suga wasn't disciplined."
However, Commissioner Kim explained, "This is due to legal stipulations. While active-duty soldiers might feel disadvantaged, the application of the law for social service personnel takes various factors into account. We're focusing on education and correction."
Suga was apprehended by the police on August 6 after falling from an electric scooter while intoxicated. His blood alcohol level at the time was high enough to warrant license revocation, and he issued an apology, saying, "I'm sorry for causing inconvenience to BTS." He was subsequently fined 15 million won, but no military disciplinary action was taken, as the incident occurred outside of his working hours as a social service worker.
