Choi Min-hwan's ex-wife, Yul-hee from Laboum, revealed on her personal channel on the 24th that Choi Min-hwan's business dealings and incidents of sexual harassment were the true reasons for their divorce. She also released a transcript of a 2022 conversation between Choi Min-hwan and an acquaintance, which included statements such as, "There is no lady there," "The wait is long," "Can you send me the amount by Telegram?" and "Please go ask if my brother is chosen by you." The transcript further suggested that they discussed going to a nearby hotel or motel, with implications of prostitution.
In response to these allegations, a netizen identified as A filed a complaint with the National Police Agency, seeking punishment for Choi Min-hwan and any intermediaries involved, under the Act on the Punishment of Acts such as Prostitution Intermediation.
According to Article 19 (Penalty) 1 of this Act, individuals involved in prostitution, recruitment, or selling sex can face up to three years in prison or fines of up to 30 million won. Additionally, Article 21 states that those engaging in prostitution may be sentenced to up to one year in prison or fined up to 3 million won.
Following Yul-hee's revelations, Choi Min-hwan has decided to suspend all broadcasting activities.
FNC Entertainment, his agency, stated on the 25th, "While it is difficult for us to grasp the details of personal privacy related to the marital issue, Choi Min-hwan feels responsible for the disappointment caused to the public and viewers. He has chosen to cease all media activities, including broadcasts involving his children."
"We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and concern this has caused to many people," the agency added.
