Yang Jae-woong will attend the National Assembly Health and Welfare Committee's parliamentary audit on the 23rd as a witness.
Rep. Seo Mi-hwa of the Democratic Party of Korea said on the 14th that "the parliamentary audit will clearly hold medical staff responsible for patient deaths caused by isolation and compulsion at the hospital and the supervision of the Ministry of Health and Welfare."
Earlier in May, a woman in her 30s visited a hospital run by Yang Jae-woong to treat diet drug addiction, and died 17 days after hospitalization. CCTV released at the time showed A grabbing his stomach and complaining of pain, but late at night, a nursing assistant and a guardian tied A to bed after feeding him/her medicine.
After that, when A had a nosebleed and gasped, the bond was released within an hour, and the nursing assistant and guardian left the room without any action. They started emergency measures against A, who lost consciousness, but in the end, A died. As a result of the autopsy, the cause of death of A was estimated to be a pseudo intestinal obstruction. The bereaved family of A filed a criminal complaint against the medical staff for abandoned death and filed a complaint with the National Human Rights Commission of Korea. The police booked the CEO and employees for violating the medical law and launched an investigation. Yang Jae-woong expressed his apology for the incident, but further revelations are continuing about the problem of neglect of hospital and patient management.
Meanwhile, Yang Jae-woong was scheduled to marry Hani, an actor from the group EXID, in September, but postponed it in the aftermath of the controversy.
