Henry was invited to a cafe by friends in the music industry, where he was introduced to new acquaintances, including Jessi, for the first time. There were at least 12 people present, and many were intoxicated, but Jessi and Henry remained sober. Numerous fans recognized Jessi and requested photos, to which she kindly obliged, as Henry explained.
Shortly after, a male fan approached Jessi with two friends and asked for a picture. Henry, feeling tired after a long day and tending to a drunken friend, noted that Jessi politely declined, explaining her fatigue. Despite this, the fans pressed her, repeatedly asking, "Why?" Just as they were about to leave, a man they had just met that day suddenly struck Jessi. Everyone was shocked and confused by this unprovoked act of violence.
Henry recounted, "Jessi was understandably frightened and anxious. None of us knew this man, and we were taken aback by his actions. Jessi tried hard to prevent the situation from escalating, but the man's aggression was inexplicable. Distressed, Jessi called a friend for help, and we met her friend at a nearby restaurant to calm down and discuss the incident. That’s when the police arrived, asking for IDs. The fan claimed they weren’t involved, so the police left."
Henry added, "She did nothing wrong. How can she control a stranger who acts violently? We must stop spreading narratives that paint her as the bad person."

Following the incident, Jessi issued two apologies, stating, "Everything is my responsibility. I wish I could go back to that moment. I regret it thousands and tens of thousands of times. Even now, I am trying to make amends. It’s my fault."
However, it was revealed that despite claiming not to know the assailant, Jessi did not take action after receiving a call from him. Additionally, a victim surfaced, alleging assault by a group at an Itaewon club in the past. Jessi’s reputation has suffered significantly due to accusations that the assailant and the producer involved were linked to the Samhap Association and a Korean-American gang in Los Angeles.
The victim expressed doubts about Jessi's sincerity, criticizing her use of the term "moral responsibility" in the media.
