Min Hee-jin Reappointed as ADOR Director Amid Ongoing Leadership Dispute with NewJeans

Min Hee-jin, former CEO of ADOR, was reappointed as an in-house director.

ADOR held an extraordinary general shareholders' meeting on the 17th and passed a resolution to re-elect former CEO Min as an inside director for a three-year term.

Earlier, the members of NewJeans demanded that former CEO Min be reinstated. In response, Min filed an injunction requesting to be reappointed as CEO following her re-election as an in-house director. However, ADOR stated that while Min's term as an in-house director would be extended, she would not return to a leadership position, though her production rights for NewJeans would be guaranteed.

Amid this conflict, the NewJeans members find themselves in a difficult situation.

Hanni appeared as a witness at a parliamentary hearing on the 15th and became emotional. She claimed she had been unfairly treated by HYBE Chairman Bang Si-hyuk and other HYBE employees, while Kim Joo-young, CEO of ADOR, failed to adequately support the group. Hanni tearfully expressed that NewJeans had been mistreated by HYBE, stating, "I didn’t want to cry, but I did."

Meanwhile, Hyein changed her profile picture on the fan communication platform Phoning to a blue rabbit, which sparked political controversy. The character in question was similar to the one seen on the laptop of Rep. Park Hong-bae of the Democratic Party of Korea during the parliamentary hearing, giving the impression of political affiliation. In response, Hyein altered the image to black and white, but eventually deleted it as the controversy persisted.

In this context, former CEO Min denied allegations of gaslighting, stating, "It’s natural that I play a motherly role because Hanni's mother isn’t in Seoul. I should be supportive." She emphasized that she had no intention of turning the members into avatars.

The court ruling on Min’s application for a provisional injunction is expected as early as next week, leaving the question of whether she will regain her CEO position uncertain.
