Kim Soo-mi, beloved as 'People's Mom,' passed away on the 25th at the age of 75.

Kim Soo-mi was transferred to Seoul St. Mary's Hospital in Seocho-gu, Seoul, after experiencing cardiac arrest at 8 a.m. Unfortunately, she was pronounced dead upon arrival. The police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding her death.

In May, Kim Soo-mi had been hospitalized at Hanyang University Hospital in Seongdong-gu, Seoul, due to accumulated fatigue, which led to a temporary suspension of her activities and sparked rumors regarding her health. Fortunately, at that time, her performances and broadcasting commitments had overlapped, contributing to her fatigue. She eventually recovered and returned to her work.

However, during a home shopping broadcast in September, she appeared with a swollen face and exhibited a different pronunciation than usual, raising concerns about her health. Kim Soo-mi explained that her altered tone was due to an implant, while her son, Chung Myung-ho, CEO of Morning Flower F&B, assured fans that there were no significant issues with her health, attributing her appearance to lack of rest the night before the broadcast.

Tragically, she passed away just a month later.

The entertainment industry was shaken by the news of her passing, as Kim Soo-mi was known for her generous affection and consideration toward her colleagues, both seniors and juniors. Shin Hyun-joon and Tak Jae-hoon, who shared a special bond with her and were affectionately referred to as 'Kim Soo-mi's adopted sons,' expressed their profound sadness, unable to find words.

Park Eun-soo, who worked alongside Kim Soo-mi for over 20 years on 'Jeonwon Diary', said, "It's so unfortunate. Kim Soo-mi was a sensitive and talented performer. She was an actress who saved 'Jeonwon Diary.'"

Born in 1949, Kim Soo-mi made her debut as a talent with MBC in 1971 and gained immense popularity in the 1980s for her role as a 60-something daily mom in MBC's 'Jeonwon Diary' at the age of 32.

Following that, she starred sitcoms like 'Goodbye Francesca' and films such as 'Marrying The Mafia' and 'Late Blossom.' Her last film was 'Marrying The Mafia: Returns', released in 2023. She also had a notable presence in entertainment programs such as tvN's 'Mother's Touch: Korean Side Dishes', 'Chairman's People', and KBS2's 'Boss in The Mirror.'

Kim Soo-mi is survived by her husband, Jeong Chang-gyu; her daughter, Jeong Ju-ri; her son, Jeong Myung-ho; and her daughter-in-law, actress Seo Hyo-rim.
