From the parody of Han River to '200 years'... 'SNL6' on the cutting board for low-grade comedy

Coupang Play's comedy show 'SNL Korea6' has been at the center of criticism, causing a series of controversies. Following Hani, a member of New Jin's, and Han Kang, a Nobel Prize-winning author, an obscene parody of tvN drama 'Jeongnyeon' is on the cutting board, drawing public anger from viewers.

On the 19th of last month, controversy over racial discrimination against foreigners erupted when New Jins Hani parodied the scene of a parliamentary audit reference investigation. Actress Ji Ye-eun appeared as Hani's stand-in and exaggerated her gloomy Korean pronunciation, which was criticized as "Didn't she mock foreigners?" Some expressed their displeasure by calling it a caricature of the nature of the parliamentary audit.

Then, on the 10th, a parody that exaggerated the interview scene of Han Kang sparked controversy. Actress Kim A-young was caught up in a mockery controversy, imitating Han Kang's laidback tone and cringe posture. It was pointed out that a writer's personal characteristics were used as a laughing stock, and some viewers accepted it as amazing, but many viewers expressed discomfort.

In the ninth episode, which was released on the 26th, the level of the problem was even higher. He parodied the drama `Jungnyeoni' into `Julnyeoni````````````````````. Comedian Ahn Young-mi said, "I'll show you Chunhyang who is shocking.", and the lyrics of Pansori 'Sarangga' were changed into sexual expressions. Jeong-rang is likely to be pregnant. It's gonna help with the birth policy" added a lowly humor with the line. In particular, criticism continues that the parody damaged the image of the work and the actor, given that 'Jeongnyeon' is a work depicting the growth and solidarity of underage women.

Netizens point out the program's stimulating gag method, saying, `It's just a mockery, not a healthy satire.' "How long should we tolerate low-level parodies?""We must keep the good of comedy." Criticism from others is spreading.

Meanwhile, Coupang Play and the production team have not made an official position on this until now.
